What is ParAqua
ParAqua is a COST Action that aims to form a collaborative network between academia, industries, and water management authorities to advance and apply knowledge and expertise on zoosporic parasites (i.e., aquatic fungi and fungi-like microorganisms).
Indeed, zoosporic parasites have a strong economic impact in the biotechnology industry by influencing the production of food ingredients, biofuels, pharmaceuticals, and nutraceuticals. Zoosporic parasites are also important drivers of natural populations, potentially influencing aquatic food webs and community dynamics, including the maintenance and promotion of diversity.
ParAqua, therefore, works by implementing knowledge regarding zoosporic parasites by targeting researchers and companies. Particular attention is also paid to communication content for the general interested public.
The role of MicrobEco
In this context, MicrobEco is engaged in Working Group 4 aimed at dissemination activities.
In close collaboration with the leaders of WG1, 2, and 3, as well as the science communication coordinator, WG4 is responsible for disseminating the results of the action with the goal of maximizing knowledge transfer among academic scientists, RD&I sector, water managers, and the general public, as well as monitoring the impact of the action on science and society.
